Congratulations Justin and Sarah

The colors of this wedding were cream and yellow, and it was so pretty and spring-y (if that’s a word). The tables had cream tablecloths and napkins, with centerpieces featuring yellow flowers with pink and orange accents. There were matching petals strewn around the centerpieces and the wedding cakes. And now for the fun details: since they had a yellow theme, they had fun favors like little personalized tins of lemon flavored candies and personalized packets of lemonade drink mix. And to top that off, the guests were met with champagne glasses of lemonade when they arrived. Very cute! Additional favors, I assume reflecting Justin’s hobbies, were personalized golf tees and personalized camouflage print koozies.

I have to comment on Sarah’s gown. It had a low back with a beautiful brooch at the waist, and the tiers of the skirt fell below. The bodice featured twisted straps which reminded me of a Roman Goddess gown. The gown was elegant and Sarah was absolutely beautiful!

This wedding had a lot of young couples there, so I should have known that we’d see people we knew. I got to briefly speak to two past brides that were there and they’re both happily married with children. One has an eight month old daughter and the other has a two week old daughter. They both look fantastic and it was great seeing them again.

After the toasts (there were six of them!) and the cake cutting, it was party time! This group really loved to dance, especially to country music. But, they liked the fast dance songs as well. After the money dance and the bouquet and garter, it was finally time for the newlyweds to make their exit. (The groomsmen did a good job of decorating Justin’s truck, too.) After running through a shower of bubbles, Justin and Sarah headed off to their honeymoon: the Bahamas. Have fun and congratulations!!

Congratulations Ben and Vicky

This wedding took place at the Alden Hotel: the same venue where we played last night. It’s not often that we’re at the same location two nights in a row. It’s amazing how different the room looked today. The color scheme was soft green and ivory. With the white table cloths and white garden chairs, it looked like an outdoor, spring garden reception. The centerpieces were low arrangements in large round vases of assorted green and ivory flowers, including hydrangea, roses, and many others. They were surrounded by candles. The bouquets and boutonnieres were in the same colors. There were two really tall arrangements by the door, which made for a beautiful entrance. There were soft green ribbons tied around the back of each chair with a flower tucked in the knot. It all was so pretty! The Bridesmaid’s dresses and Groomsmen’s vests were a plum color, and they complemented the ivory perfectly.

I must mention the rose drawing. Ben drew a rose (and he’s talented!) and presented it to Vicky when he proposed to her. They used that rose image to decorate the cover of their wedding program, and had the original framed on the guest book table.

As the guests entered, there was a slideshow playing. After the introductions and first dance, the guests were treated to a different slideshow presentation followed by a sit down meal. During dinner, a friend of the couple sang a special song for the newlyweds. Then, for the Best Man’s toast, he played a slideshow while making comments on the images. This wedding wins the award for the most slideshows in one reception. :-) After cutting the cake, which was a combination of mocha, and pandon and coconut (this layer was green on the inside, I’ve never seen that before!), it was time to get the party started!

The bouquet and garter were fun because there were so many people involved. It’s not often that you see so many single ladies and guys. And the winners didn’t just catch the bouquet and garter, they dove for them! The crowd liked every type of music, including Just Dance by Lady Ga Ga, Twist and Shout, Low, Yeah by Usher, Hot and Cold by Katy Perry, Dancing Queen and 4 Minutes to Save the World. There were many times that the dance floor was overflowing and there was no room left. What a great party!

After saying their goodbyes and running through a shower of bubbles, Ben and Vicky headed off to their new life together. Congratulations!

Congratulations Jeff and Doranne

What a gorgeous ceremony and reception! They were both held in the Veranda Room of the Alden Hotel, and the room was beautifully decorated. There were large white Chinese lanterns hanging from the ceiling. The room pillars were draped in white sheer organza, highlighted with soft uplights. The colors of the wedding were lime/citrus green and white, so there were green floor length tablecloths on all the tables, surrounded by white garden chairs. The centerpieces alternated high/low, and consisted of white roses and calla lilies. There were also candles on the tables surrounding the centerpieces. For a trendy touch, there were a few seating areas in the room (off white couches around small cocktail tables with centerpieces.) It all added up to make a beautiful, elegant wedding.

Jeff and Doranne added some unique aspect to their reception. There was a gobo projecting their initials onto the wall. Instead of a traditional wedding cake, they had wedding pies. They had a large pie to cut and feed each other; and then individual 3” pies of assorted flavors for the guests. How fun!

The Bride and Groom liked classic rock, so we played plenty of that. Sweet Home Alabama was a big hit. Commonly requested favorites such as Play That Funky Music, Can’t Touch This, and Brickhouse also got the dance floor rocking. Some new hits also went over well. It seems that this was a fun crowd that liked to dance!

Oh, and how can I forget Doranne’s dress? It was so beautiful! It was a slim fit with a trumpet flared hem. But the really unique part was the lace racer back. I’ve never seen that before and it really was stunning! And yes, Jeff, you looked quite handsome as well. :-)

Finally, after tons of fun, talking, and dancing, the newlyweds left for their honeymoon. Congratulations Jeff and Doranne!

Congratulations Joe and Jennifer

This fun reception was held at Wyndehaven Terrace, which is on Cutten Road in Northwest Houston. If you haven’t been there, you should check it out. The rooms are beautiful, the food is fantastic, and the staff is great. (And they have the best rice/broccoli/cheese casserole you’ve ever eaten!)

The colors for this wedding were black and white, with red rose accents. Those colors always look so elegant together. The red roses were in the centerpieces and in the bouquets and boutonnieres. It was a small touch of color, but one that was really striking. One cool thing about this wedding was that the flowers in the bouquets were the wood flowers that I’ve heard about. I’ve wondered how they look in person, and they look so realistic!

The dance floor was packed from the first song, so we knew that we were going to have a great time! There were a lot of kids at this reception, so we were asked to play plenty of interactive, fun, family friendly songs. So The Chicken Dance, YMCA, Hokey Pokey, Cha Cha Slide, and other such songs were a big hit. It's important to note that there was no alcohol at this reception. People are always afraid that if there isn't alcohol, guests won't dance or have fun. That is absolutely not true. This reception was a blast and everyone was dancing!

One thing we’ll remember about this reception is how genuinely nice everyone was. From the Bridal Party to the guests to the Bride and Groom, it was laughs and fun for all! I don’t think we ever saw a couple laugh and have so much fun for their First Dance. It was actually very sweet to see: you could tell that Joe and Jennifer really love each other and are so happy together.

So, after a long day of fun, the newlyweds finally headed off to their new life together. Congratulations to you both!!

Happy Birthday Casy

Saturday night we performed at a 15th birthday party for Casy, who wanted to have a big, fun party for her friends. And that she did! Casy arrived looking beautiful in a black dress with a pink tiara on her head, ready to lead the group in a night of fun.

The party was held at Bay Oaks Country Club. The tables were covered in black and white with red rose petals. There was a beautiful 3 tiered cake as well. After eating a great Italian buffet with pasta station and visiting with friends, the party began!

The dance floor was packed from the first song to the last. This group was so much fun! They were jumping up and down; singing along so loud you wouldn’t believe it! I imagine that some of them woke up the next day to find that they lost their voice from all the singing. Most of the time, 80% of the partiers were on the dance floor. The night was an out-of-this-world good time!

Some of the favorite songs of the night were: What is Love by Haddaway, Single Ladies by Beyonce (and a lot of the girls knew the dance, too!), Just Dance by Lady GaGa, Cha Cha Slide, Cupid Shuffle, Hot and Cold by Katie Perry, Love Story by Taylor Swift, In The Ayer by Flo Rida, Apache (Jump On It) by Sugar Hill Gang, and many more.

The only bad part of the night? I forgot my camera, and the party had to end. That was about it. The rest was awesome!

Happy Birthday Casy and have a great year!
